FIN 53630 Financial Institutions

This course introduces students to U.S. financial markets and institutions, explaining how they operate and promote economic growth and well-being. Among the financial markets examined are those for money markets, mortgages, government and corporate bonds, and corporate equity. Financial institutions studied include insurance companies, investment banks, investment companies, pension funds, and fintech companies. The course also examines the role of the Federal Reserve in the financial system and the nature and purpose of financial regulation. Prerequisite: FIN 53621 with a minimum grade of C.
