ENGL 10610 Introduction to Practical and Theoretical Criticism
Intensive practice in the close reading of texts and in the writing of literary criticism with focused attention on the application of such theories as Bahktinian Dialogism, Reader Response Theory, Deconstruction, Feminism, Gender Studies, and New Historicism and on the development of research writing skills. All English graduate students must take this course during their first fall term unless the graduate advisor defers the requirement to a later trimester. (F)
