This minor, with the methods course indicated below, prepares you for certification to teach mathematics in grades 5-9 ONLY IF you also have an education major in another field.  Secure a Math Education advisor when declaring this minor.

This 24-hour minor will meet the concentration requirements for the Middle School Major

MATH 17582 Mathematics Methods for Middle School Teachers is the required subject field methods course.  This course is part of the professional education requirements for certification.

If MATH 17171 is also used to fulfill a Northwest Core Requirement, the hours may be counted only once toward the 124 required for graduation.
