Academic Advisement

Academic Advisement, located in the Student Success Center (SSC), provides assistance in academic advisement and choosing a major to students who have not declared a major or those needing special assistance for success at Northwest. Advisement services in the Student Success Center are targeted toward deciding students, non-traditional, probationary, transfer, and students wishing to change majors.

All first-year students are assigned a first-year advisor based on their major/discipline. The first-year advisor is available to assist students and works closely with faculty in the academic department/school to which they are assigned.

Academic Advisement also assists faculty in their roles as advisors by evaluating the advising system, strengthening the advising process, and by providing training on institutional policies and procedures.  Any student seeking general advisement is welcome to visit the Student Success Center located on the second floor of B.D. Owens Library.
