2012-2014 Undergraduate Catalog

CHEM 24532 Physical Chemistry I

The study of atomic and molecular phenomena through the scrutiny and interpretation of the physical laws that govern the structure and behavior of matter as it exchanges energy within and between itself and its surroundings in the atomic and molecular domains. Topics include the foundation of quantum chemistry, atomic and molecular structure, spectroscopy, and computational chemistry. It is strongly suggested that CHEM 24-532 be taken prior to 24-534. Prerequisites: CHEM 24-116/117 with a minimum grade of C, PHYS 25-120 and MATH 17-121.
