REC 45469 Practicum In Aging
Because the study of Gerontology is both scholarsly and applied, students are required to complete a 200 hour practicum as a way to integrate what has been learned in the classroom with situations encountered while working with an older population. Students are required to work a minimum of 100 hours in an agency that serves frail older adults AND a minimum of 100 hours in an agency that serves well older adults. Reports, work logs, and evaluations must be submitted for each agency experience. Completion of this practicum is in addition to any other practicum required for other programs/degrees. Prerequisite: 12 hours of minor coursework. (Summer, by arrangement in Fall and Spring).
