Higher Education Leadership MS
The MS in Higher Education Leadership program is based on the idea that higher education leaders should be equipped with a understanding of leadership as it exists in the 21st century, including such concepts as: cultural competence, compliance, management vs leadership, adult learning theory, and institutional structures and operations.
Degree Requirements: Fulfillment of admission requirements, course work, application for graduation, and outcomes-based synthesis of learning as a culminating examination. All are required prior to conferment of the degree.
Transfer Credit: According to university policy, up to 9 hours of graduate credit may be transferred in to fulfill course requirements. These will be approved by the coordinator of the program.
Time Limitations: Students have 8 years to complete the graduations requirements for the course. Any courses that are 8 years or older are not allowed to fulfill any of the degree requirements.
Admission Requirements: Applicants must qualify with both of the following:
1. A minimum overall grade point average of 2.50 on the undergraduate transcript or an undergraduate overall GPA of 2.25 to 2.49 and a 3.0 or higher on six hours of required graduate coursework in the major program.
2. Documentation of one of the following:
a. 3.5 or higher on the analytical writing measure of the GRE
b. successful completion of a previous Master's degree
c. 450 of higher on the GMAT
d. two years of successful work experience in higher education (documented through a letter from a supervisor attesting to the work history of the applicant)
Research Component: The student will participate in a research requirement related to the use of data in the field of higher education. This research component form must be submitted to the Graduate Office prior to graduation.
